Student Colleague Position - Deadline for applications is Feb 15th.

The Student colleague position is designed to augment veterinary school curriculum for students. We seek to support veterinary students as they improve and enhance technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • 80% of the student’s time will be scheduled as a veterinary assistant, performing specific hands-on duties governed by each hospital’s state veterinary medical practice act, the individual student’s experience level, and on goals mutually agreed upon between the student and onsite veterinary mentor. Students can expect to refine their technical skills as they support the team as needed and participate in daily patient care, client education and much more.
  • 20% of the student’s time will be scheduled as a veterinary student colleague focusing on specific learning objectives and goals mutually agreed upon between the student and the onsite veterinary mentor. Student directed development opportunities may include:
    • Interpreting laboratory diagnostics
    • Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
    • Building confidence through case management presentations- and more!

Students will also be given opportunities to enhance their business intelligence by:

      • Participating in CVP’s Student Colleague “Vet-Together” in Philadelphia- an expense paid opportunity for networking, CE and sightseeing with other Student colleagues, veterinary mentors and CVP leadership
      • Collaborating with fellow colleagues through case presentations
      • Taking advantage of opportunities to attend local Veterinary Medical Continuing Education events as available

The student’s summer job opportunities will consist of:

      • 8-week learning experiences with flexible start and completion dates
      • 35 hours per week of scheduled in-hospital time working alongside their mentor
    • Student Compensation and Benefits:

      • $4,000 stipend for 8-week learning experience
      • $2,000 housing stipend and housing location assistance
      • 3 months of access to VetBloom: our learning platform for clinical and professional CE and development opportunities
      • Access to online mental health app Ginger
      • Expense paid for trip to Philadelphia to attend the CVP “Vet-Together”
      • Priority access to future employment opportunities within the CVP family of hospitals

Prerequisites for Summer Opportunities:

  • Student must be in good standing, and have completed at least one-year of curriculum in an AVMA accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program
  • Student must have a primary interest in small animal practice and veterinary leadership

About Community Veterinary Partners
CVP believes our job is to bring joy to families by caring for the pets they love. We know that when veterinary professionals have what they need to thrive, pets thrive too. That’s what CVP is all about: building a community that provides extraordinary care for all its members, no matter how many legs (or wings) they may have. CVP knows what's important to people and making sure they have what they need so they can focus on delivering great care is our priority. At the end of the day, we’re more than just pet people. We’re pet people people.
