At Advanced Veterinary Specialists, our medical teams have a reputation for delivering top quality care to the central coast community. We are seeking part-time and full-time Emergency doctors for our multi-specialty hospital located in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA.

Our hospitals have busy caseloads and highly trained clinical staff who have access to plentiful CE and growth opportunities provided by our Learning and Development department. Emergency doctors collaborate with other doctors in the following specialties across the network:

-Critical Care

-Urgent Care

-Anesthesiology

-Cardiology

-Internal Medicine

-Surgery

-Neurology

-Oncology

-Physical Rehab

Who you are:

If you are an experienced or internship-trained emergency doctor eager to collaborate with stellar peers and staff in cutting edge facilities we encourage you to get in touch. You will be challenged, you will learn, and your compassion, skills, and ambition will be rewarded.

General Job Description:

Our Emergency doctors work within the Emergency/Critical Care department and have primary case responsibility receiving patients and caring for their inpatients. In addition, the overnight and weekend ER doctors care for all the hospitalized patients within the hospital. Emergency doctors have the opportunity to learn and utilize their skills in ultrasound, triage, CPR and get to work with technical staff of high caliber to treat challenging cases. In addition, we have surgeons on call for emergency surgeries, specialists who are trained in ultrasound to help with your patients, and the opportunity to work alongside various specialists to exchange advice on patients.

Schedule:

A full time schedule is 3/12 or 4/10s per week. Both of these schedules leave you time to enjoy all that California has to offer. Shifts are a mix of days, swings, and some overnights, with holiday coverage shared by the emergency doctors within the hospital. The emergency doctors collaborate to create a fair schedule and take into account everyone’s needs.

Location:

Santa Barbara, CA, a beautiful and scenic coastal city known for its Mediterranean mystique, surfing and outdoor adventures, top-notch restaurants, and upscale galleries and boutiques.

Our values in action:

Collaboration:  With multiple specialties supporting our Emergency department, you’ll have the opportunity to share knowledge with a community of brilliant and diverse team of doctors

Sustainability:  As our industry changes, smaller, doctor led community practices are becoming more and more rare.  We are constantly enhancing our model and growth strategy to ensure that the SAGE way thrives and spreads, keeping our core values and methods intact.

Compassion:  Our work is about caring for living creatures, no matter how many legs they use.  We place compassion first for our patients and their people, as well as for each other.

Innovation:  Top technology and top skills, we are about pushing the envelope to serve our community.

Compensation/benefits:  The best deserve to be compensated as such. We offer base shift pay based on day of the week/time of the day worked. On top of the shift pay, our emergency/critical care doctors receive a monthly bonus based on individual production. We strive to provide flexibility based on your life and your needs. SAGE also provides a benefits package with generous employer cost sharing that includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, commuter benefits, cell phone plan, California licensing fees, liability insurance, uniforms, veterinary association memberships, CE reimbursement annually, ultrasound training, a 401(k) plan that can include employer contributions of up to 3% each year.

Our doctors and outstanding support staff have created a unique environment emphasizing high caliber, compassionate and ethical service to our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians, as well as a continued commitment to the growth and welfare of everyone involved in our organization.

It is our policy to afford equal opportunities for all qualified persons, regardless of their actual or perceived:  race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status (including registered domestic partnership status), sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), gender (including gender identity and expression), age (40 and over), sexual orientation, Civil Air Patrol status, military and veteran status, and any other consideration protected by federal, state, or local law (sometimes referred to, collectively, as “protected characteristics”).
