About the position:

The Associate Veterinarian  is responsible for medical and surgical care of patients in the exam room and in the hospital.  This includes maintaining client relationships and effectively communicating the care needs and condition of their pet.  Medical records are maintained in an accurate and legible manner and estimates are presented to clients in advance of care, as appropriate.  The Associate Veterinarian is considered a member of the hospital’s management team and is therefore responsible for supporting the hospital leadership and NVA. 

Basic Skills and Qualifications:

• Candidate must be a graduate from an AVMA accredited college or have successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification program 
• Strong communication skills: written, verbal and listening
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong working knowledge of veterinary medicine
• Good working knowledge of business practice and accounting
• Functional computer skills; workable typing ability
• Able to think rationally and logically; able to make quick, decisive decisions
• Able to give, receive and follow directions
• Able to provide training and support to colleagues and support team members
• Able to be empathetic and compassionate
