Texas Paw Care is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our local community. We offer low cost pet vaccines, spays and neuters. We need a Doctor for spay and neutering. Our team is easygoing, experienced, kind, and hardworking. Our Doctor only has to focus on surgery and we take care of everything else!

 

•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

•Desire to thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment

•Upon hire, must pass a background check

•Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with two or more years experience in clinic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience

•Experience working in a fast-paced environment; preferably in a shelter medicine environment

•Valid Texas Veterinary Medical License

•Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds

 

Responsibilities

•Your passion for animal care extends to our shelter workplace and our clients

•Perform a minimum of 25-35 spay/neuter surgeries on average each working day, with minimal complications

•Perform other surgical procedures as indicated

•Perform surgical sterilization of owned and shelter dogs and cats

•Perform pre-operative examinations and make decisions regarding each animal’s health and suitability to undergo surgery

•Deliver high-quality veterinary care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

•Provide emergency medical care as needed

•Induce and maintain animals under anesthesia

•Operate anesthetic machine and surgical monitoring equipment

•Ensure that all animals are monitored while under anesthesia

•Perform diagnostic tests including x-ray, blood work, cytology, as needed for animals admitted to the clinic

•Pursue adequate and appropriate continuing education

•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of animal health protocols, surgical procedures and companion health issues

•Provide leadership and direction to Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants and department volunteers

•Build effective relationships through positive interaction and communication with clients, staff and volunteers

•Work with Veterinary Services managers to ensure department equipment in good working order

•Provide humane care and treatment of all animals

•Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in all workspaces

•Indirectly supervises Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and volunteers
