ER-ICU Service DVM Lead – NEAMC

Are you an experienced Emergency Veterinarian who has a passion for leadership and teaching? Do you enjoy a mixture of clinical and administrative duties and strive to foster a positive and friendly culture? Then we might have the perfect fit!

New England Animal Medical Center (NEAMC) is looking to add an ER/ICU service lead veterinarian to our emergency and critical care department in West Bridgewater, MA. This ER/ICU leader will collaborate with board-certified specialists in Critical Care and Surgery along with consulting Cardiologists.

Responsibilities

This leadership role will work closely with the Medical Director and Hospital Director. Responsibilities will include planning, directing, training and coordinating medical leadership and oversight for all NEAMC Staff ER and ICU doctors (including per diem staff). The service lead acts as an exemplary ER doctor and serves as primary contact for all operating matters of the ER and ICU department. In partnership with the Medical Director and Hospital Administrator, the ER/ICU Service Lead will stay abreast of hospital-wide needs, concerns, and environment—proactively identifying conflict and helping to foster a positive team culture.

The schedule will include a variety of shifts to ensure patient care initiatives are upheld and the team is supported. This role is responsible for day-to-day workflow including, but not limited to: ER doctor scheduling, recruiting, hiring, onboarding and training; facilitating regular department meetings; and providing mentorship and oversight to both doctors and support staff. The Service Lead strives to maintain a positive attitude, positive work habits and build strong collaborative relationships within the department and with external services and referring veterinarians.

Experience

Preferred experience would include overseeing a clinical team in a leadership position with two or more years of experience in that leadership role. As well as 5+ years of experience in Emergency and Critical Care medicine.

Hospital & Benefits

At NEAMC we offer comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, disability, life insurance, flexible spending account (FSA), partially funded health reimbursement account (HRA), retirement, referral and incentive bonuses, annual CE allowance, and generous Paid Time Off (PTO) package. Our hospital includes advanced monitoring equipment, an in-house, full-service lab (CBC/Chem/EPOC electrolytes, PT/PTT, blood typing, and crossmatching), Newport Breeze ventilator, in-house blood bank, temperature-controlled oxygen cages, Storz video flexible and rigid endoscopy, color flow Doppler ultrasound, laparoscopy, dedicated chemotherapy room with hood, digital radiography, and CT.

NEAMC has been in operation since 1975 and we are a multi-faceted teaching facility that includes a 24/7 ER as well as board certified specialists in Critical Care and Surgery. We also offer primary care services for our clients and patients. We highly value the continuing education of our doctors and staff members.

Our team works together for the common goal of providing optimal care for each patient and their owners with the very best possible medicine and compassion. When hiring from top to bottom we focus on cultural fit, which allows us to boast an awesome group of people you will enjoy working with every day.

Our Exceptional Location

West Bridgewater is conveniently located about 30 miles (about a 40-minute drive!) from Boston and less than 40 miles from Providence, RI. New England offers a little something for everyone: professional sports, culture and arts, a great restaurant scene, all while being located near the beach and not far from camping, hiking and peaceful mountain getaways. Our region is known for its top-rated schools and universities, making the greater Boston area the perfect place to grow and raise a family. Our city is home to four nationally recognized, championship sport teams. Join us in the Red Sox Nation today!

Next Steps

If you're interested in joining our progressive and collaborative hospital that cultivates your growth as a clinician, take the next step and apply to NEAMC – you will not regret it. Please start your journey by emailing your CV/resume to Susanne at Susanne.Miller@NVACompassionFirst.com
