Externship or Preceptorship for Future Veterinarian

An important part of our practice, and core belief, is to give back to the veterinary community. Our practice offers exciting externships for future veterinarians who are looking to spend time under the supervision of skilled clinicians. Who we are:

We are a small animal veterinary hospital located in Chester County, PA. We see a wide variety of clients, and patients, including avian, reptiles, and exotic pocket pets. We have a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility, full of the newest diagnostics available, and a great team of encouraging staff. Our doctors deeply believe in the mentorship process. We welcome students who are eager to learn and genuinely want to be prepared for their transition from student to doctor. What we provide:

Flexible externships, tailored to you and your programs specific needs, as well as your schedule. This program is intended for you to observe, to consult on diagnostics, and to discuss potential treatments for individual cases with your mentors. Under their supervision, and working with our enthusiastic veterinary team, you will be pleased to find a comprehensive variety in cases, both medical and surgical. This program allows for you to apply your knowledge and skills in a safe learning environment, with the support of a great veterinary team. This opportunity also provides students the chance to refine their communication and time management skills. Be prepared to shadow a veterinarian for appointments, scrub in for surgeries, and get hands-on experience with a variety of diagnostic equipment.

We are looking for positive, responsible, and enthusiastic externs who are excited to learn, and participate in quality patient care. We expect you to uphold a professional demeanor and appearance. A copy of our employee handbook will be provided on day 1, so overall expectations are clear. Requirements:

• Current enrollment in a VMD or DVM program.
• Authorization to work in the US.
• Current liability insurance. AVMA PLIT is free for all student members.
• Enthusiasm for the veterinary field, professional attitude, and excitement for the opportunity to work with skilled clinical mentors at a great facility!
