Ocean State Equine has a great opportunity for someone that is interested in growing an elective surgical program in a new facility.  We are looking for someone that is avidly interested in private practice and sports medicine in particular. 

We are a 7-doctor practice.  Our ambulatory service covers the diverse equine communities of Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and eastern Connecticut.  We have a heavy lameness caseload.  Our facility has 3 exam areas, an operating room with 2 induction/recovery stalls, and 2 ICU stalls with independent heat/ventilation/a/c, oxygen, and drains as well as an I-beam for slings.  The adjacent barn has 11 stalls.  There is room to expand.  There is intern/extern housing on-site and a USDA CEM quarantine station on the property.  Additionally, there is a large outdoor and indoor arenas as well as a Eurocisor that can be leveraged to expand the already busy lameness portion of the practice. 

We believe in cultivating relationships, be it with clients, teammates or fellow professionals.  It not only differentiates us from other practices but it improves patient care.  Maintaining these strong relationships has helped us grow a strong practice through the years.  We look forward to integrating a new surgeon into that growth. 

Salary is base-plus and is commensurate with experience and production.  Benefits include:  IRA, health insurance, long-term disability, liability insurance, state licensure in RI, MA and CT, membership in AVMA, AAEP and ACVS, and a continuing education stipend.   

This area offers a bit for everyone!  The practice area is mostly suburban-rural.  The fabulous coast-line and the terrific city of Providence are within miles of the clinic.  Boston and the New England mountains are within easy striking distance.  If you sail, surf, hike, bike, run, camp, ski, snowboard, garden, knit, cook, bake, brew, ride, read, fish, do yoga, scent-train your dog, are a foodie, are an avid concert-goer (all actual hobbies of staff current and past), or almost anything else you can think of, you can do it here!
