Village Veterinary Clinic in Lompoc, California is looking for a full-time veterinarian to join our team of 4 doctors and excellent support staff.  We are an AAHA accredited practice located in California’s central coast wine country, between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.  As a small town, Lompoc housing is more affordable, making it easier to own a home while enjoying the beautiful temperate climate.  There are plenty of hiking and riding trails, lakes and mountains only hours away, and the beach is always close by.  Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo are less than an hour’s drive for concerts, sporting events, excellent restaurants, and plenty of wine tasting and good food.

A full-time associate would have a starting salary of $100,000-$110,000 plus commission.  We use the Pro-sal compensation method with 2 weeks paid vacation, a CE stipend, and professional dues paid including DEA licensing, PLIT insurance, and California Veterinary Board Licensing.  We are a fast-paced clinic most days but enjoy a collaborative atmosphere with plenty of humor and mentoring.  Because we are in a semi-rural town, you would see both pre-scheduled appointments and the occasional daytime emergency as well as surgeries.  Our caseload is primarily cats and dogs, with the option to see other small mammals, reptiles, birds, and mini pigs. Our clinic is equipped with an in-house lab, surgical and therapeutic lasers, endoscopy, digital radiology (dental and standard), and ultrasound. We also have a board-certified radiologist to read films and a traveling small animal surgeon for more complicated orthopedic or soft tissue surgeries. There are also specialty clinics nearby for ophthalmology and oncology referrals.  We strive to offer the highest standard of care for our upscale clientele.

Currently we are only doing curbside service due to the high COVID-19 infection rate. Hopefully by the end of summer we can return to our normal flow of clients and critters through the clinic. We plan to make those decisions thoughtfully as the pandemic plays out. The safety of our staff is of utmost importance, and currently most of us are between our first and second COVID vaccinations.

If you are interested in this position, please visit our website www.villagevet.us to see the clinic and staff and learn more about us. You may contact us by phone or email with a resume and letter of interest, just ask for Dr. Connie Ganter, Dr. Verne Thacker, or our practice manager, Meghan Fox.

About Village Veterinary Clinic
Village Veterinary Clinic in Lompoc, California was originally founded by Dr. Rick Zander in the early 1980s. The current owners Connie Ganter and Verne Thacker purchased Village Veterinary Clinic in October 1999. The original building (across the street) could not contain the growing practice. The current lot was purchased and over a 5 year period, a new building was designed and built. In July 2007 the doctors and wonderful staff moved the animal hospital across the street and the clinic as you see today was established. We are an AAHA accredited practice located on California's Central Coast Wine Country between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. Dr. Thacker offers ambulatory large animal services to the surrounding communities. Our in house small animal service has grown to include full-service vet care with Dr. Connie Ganter, Dr. Julie Deter, and Dr. Erin Belleville; bathing, grooming, and boarding.
