The SPCA of East Texas is seeking to add a second full-time Veterinarian to our dedicated team of professionals.   This veterinarian would provide Wellness Services as well as perform spay/neuter surgery in a high-volume clinic. Supported by an experienced team of highly qualified vet techs and clinic support staff, this position provides an opportunity for growth and development of veterinarian skills but the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team providing great resources and great services to the East Texas community. 

Our clinic provides an excellent opportunity to work in a low-stress environment with a supportive team of professionals.  Without the administrative worries of private practice, you would be allowed to focus on the development of your high-quality spay/neuter skills and the ongoing diverse veterinary medical needs of not only the East Texas community but the homeless dogs and cats rescued and rehomed by our rescue program.  

Since opening our doors in 2014, our SNIPPET Clinic has performed thousands of spay/neuter surgeries. Our clinic serves as the major contributor to the prevention of unwanted litters and the reduction of homeless animals in our area.  Located in beautiful East Texas, our 2021 plans include the opening of a brand new clinic located on our rolling 60-acre tract and adjacent to our dog park in Tyler.

Job Description includes the following: 

  •    Annual starting salary $85,000.00 -$120,000.00 (commensurate with experience)
    •    Flexible schedule
    •    Assessment and supervision of rehabilitation needs of SPCA ETX dogs and cats
    •    Surgery team supported by 3 experienced surgical techs
    •    High volume surgical training provided through Texas Litter Control Education
    •    2 weeks paid vacation annually
    •    9 paid holidays annually
    •    Annual continuing education expenses
    •    Medical uniform/scrubs allowance
    •    DVM license renewal & registration fees
    •    Texas State licensing assistance (if needed)
    •    Interim housing assistance (if needed)
    •    Relocation assistance (if needed)

  • Licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in good standing
  • Able to perform spay/neuter surgery proficiently
  • Enjoys and supports the philosophy of saving lives and preventing unwanted litters
  • 1+ years experience practicing small animal veterinary medicine 
  • Willing to train in the specialization of high volume spay/neuter procedures

Established in 2010, the MISSION of the SPCA of East Texas is to improve the lives of animals, alleviate their suffering and elevate their status in society. As the largest non-profit rescue and adoption organization in East Texas, the SPCA of ETX serves Tyler, Smith County and the surrounding East Texas area in the spay/neuter/wellness/rescue/adoption of hundreds of homeless pets each year. Additionally, the SNIPPET Clinic performs surgery for the public 4 days a week, providing much needed affordable spay/neuter/vaccinations and monthly heart worm/flea/tick prevention to a formerly hugely under served part of the community. The SPCA of ETX currently operates the following programs out of our 3 Tyler locations. 1). Rescue of dogs and cats suffering from animal cruelty and neglectful environments 2). Re-homing & adoption of homeless, surrendered and shelter animals 3). Community Assistance to Citizens in Need 4). Monthly Transport to the foster based rescues in Northeast 5). Weekly Volunteer Program 6). Foster Based Socialization & Rehabilitation 7). SNIPPET Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic
