South Bay Veterinary Hospital is proud to be AAHA-accredited and has served the San Diego community since 1956. Our culture is rooted in professional development. Every one of our doctors is an individual with their own style of medicine and are encouraged to practice accordingly. You will have the opportunity to build your own professional development plan and achieve your ultimate goal of practicing your absolute best in Veterinary Medicine. The knowledgeable and compassionate staff at our Chula Vista Veterinary Hospital includes four veterinarians; a team of experienced nurses; veterinary technicians; groomers; and managers that ensure our animal hospital’s administration runs as smoothly as your pet’s visit.

We also embrace the balance and the need to be a whole person. We are all spouses and parents and children and siblings or friends to a community that makes us a whole person, and we celebrate the need to make time for those relationships.

We all believe and value living a purposeful, meaningful life and strive to instill this in our team each and every day.

In addition you can expect:

  • High skilled Tech to Doctor ratio
  • Flexibility & healthy work/life balance
  • Extremely loyal clientele with a high compliance rate
  • Competitive salary & bonuses

How will this role impact the practice?

  • Continuity of care – You will be encouraged and expected to work with day staff in both diagnostics and treatment plans. Daytime patients are your patients and you will be surrounded by a team to help you provide excellent outcomes.
  • High quality of care– We believe in quality medicine and invest in our practice accordingly. The only limitation to this is having to send patients home or to an emergency clinic overnight.
  • Increasing the connection with the community – South bay is entrusted with countless patients that our clients trust us to care for. When emergencies happen, we want to be able to tell our clients that their loved ones can come to a place they know well, rather than send them to another facility.

Skills & Qualifications

  • DVM degree
  • Emergency experience
  • Willing to work evening shifts

Who fits this role?

  • You value autonomy. While this role offers a support system, you will need to feel comfortable working independently and making decisions on your own. This role requires somebody who seeks a self-directed position.
  • You have prior ER experience. The ability to draw from prior experience to answer important questions: What does an ER practice need to succeed? What should we do differently than other ER practices? Coming into this role with prior knowledge of the inner workings of an ER workings will help you excel.

About South Bay Veterinary Hospital
The veterinary profession isn’t like any other—it’s the only field predicated on the love of a patient who can’t tell you what’s hurting and can only look to you for help. It takes a special kind of person to do that job, or the jobs supporting that job. NVA doesn’t create those special people—we find them, cultivate them, and give them resources and opportunities to do what only they can do. Whether treating patients, managing a pet resort, or serving hospitals from NVA’s Support Center, NVA’s animal professionals are caring people, united by a love of animals. NVA is proud to honor that connection and is committed to serving our team members by providing them with the tools, support, and freedom to be the professionals they’ve always wanted to be.
