Are you interested in practicing emergency medicine at a privately owned practice?

Are you interested in practicing emergency medicine where you are able to work up medical cases and perform emergency surgeries?

Are you a new grad with an interest in emergency medicine but are looking for the right fit with the right amount of help/mentoring?

Have you just completed an internship and want to start in emergency medicine but need some additional help with surgical or other cases?

If so, this might be the job for you!

The Northwest PA Pet Emergency Center (NWPaPEC), a privately owned after hours emergency and critical care practice in Erie PA, has an immediate opening for a full time veterinarian.  We provide after hours emergency and critical care for 80+ Veterinarians (40+ practices) throughout the region of northwest PA, northeast Ohio, and southwestern New York.

We strive to provide high quality patient care and are equipped with electronic medical records (Infinity/Impromed), Digital Radiography (radiology consults through PetRays), Ultrasound (GE Versana Premier), Complete in house lab (Abaxis), and Surgical suite complete with monitoring (SpO2, BP, Capnography, ECG, etc) and anesthetic ventilator.

Cases vary from the most basic emergencies to complex medical and surgical cases and our veterinarians routinely perform surgical procedures such as Exploratory laparotomy, C-Section, GDV, Splenectomy, and Enucleation.

We are very supportive of continual learning and training of both our veterinarians and support staff.  We regularly attend VECCS conferences, provide generous CE allowances to veterinarians and technical staff, and provide VIN access.  Many of our technicians are CVTs or are currently in training to become CVTs.

Our full time veterinarians typically work 12-14 12hr shifts per month and we attempt to accommodate any scheduling and time off requests.

Erie, PA is home to beautiful Presque Isle along Lake Erie as well as many other lakes and parks including the National Forest.  The area is abundant with numerous outdoor activities (Hiking, Camping, Fishing, Hunting) and has a very reasonable cost of living.

We are located 2 hours north of Pittsburgh, 2 hours east of Cleveland, and 1.5 hours south of Buffalo

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, a positive attitude, good medical and surgical skills, and a willingness to continue to learn.  Prior emergency practice experience or completion of a rotating internship is preferred but new graduates with an interest in emergency medicine and surgery are encouraged to apply.

Mentoring and assistance with surgeries or detailed cases is available as needed.  This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in practicing where you are able to work up medical cases and perform emergency surgeries.

For more information, please contact Brian W. Christman DVM at bwchristman@eriepetemergency.com

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: A Base salary commensurate with experience with a production bonus is provided. Additional benefits include Health care, CE allowance, Simple IRA, VIN access, PA license, VECCS membership.
