The Welcome Waggin’ Team:

The Welcome Waggin is a team of vibrant Veterinary Professionals committed to providing a whole-hearted and compassionate approach to veterinary care in the place pets love most, their home. Would you like to experience veterinary medicine in an entirely new, different, and refreshing way? As in-home veterinary care providers, we are able to evaluate a patient in their own habitat providing our team of doctors and technicians a renewed and previously absent perspective to veterinary care. Housecall services tend to be far less stressful than a typical veterinary visit and in-home care allows a more intimate view into our patient’s lives. We often find ourselves humbled by the ability to truly celebrate the human-animal bond with our pet-parent families.

We are a growing in-home veterinary practice that has been servicing the entire western suburbs of Chicago since 2007. We are an almost full-service veterinary practice. We provide in-home veterinary services ranging from general practice, preventative & wellness care for all life-stages, geriatric care, laboratory analysis, chronic disease management, dermatology, acupuncture, chiropractic, and holistic care, oncology, quality-of-life comfort care, and end-of-life services. We refer to traditional veterinary facilities for sedation/surgical procedures, most diagnostic imaging, and emergency services.

Our team currently consists of three veterinarians, one CVT, and two Travel Technicians but we are growing fast with at least two new positions soon-to-be filled. We are a compassionate, skilled, and highly motivated group of individuals with a strong sense of team and lots of positive energy. Our practice atmosphere is professional, relaxed, flexible, and fun. We are focused on growth and committed to lifelong learning. We love all species… including humans.

Full Job Description:

The Welcome Waggin’ In-Home Veterinary Care Provider is seeking an enthusiastic part-time or full-time Associate Veterinarian dedicated to promoting and celebrating the human-animal bond through compassionate veterinary care and commitment to client education. Experienced veterinarians and new graduates welcome to apply!

The ideal candidate is interested in practicing quality clinical medicine in a non-clinical setting. This DVM position is on our General Practice team where you’ll be building lasting relationships with pet families while caring for dogs and cats in all life stages. A day in the life of a Veterinarian on our Travel Team can include annual and senior pet wellness exams, preventative care, medical management of chronic care patients, quality-of-life assessments, and end-of-life services. The candidate practices with a big heart and demonstrates excellent bedside manners while remaining efficient and maintaining practice boundaries.

Our Travel Team consists of one veterinarian and one technician. The Travel Team begins each day meeting at our office location in Oswego, IL to review the patient schedule, round with our team, and gather supplies. The Oswego office is 10 minutes to downtown Plainfield and 10 minutes to downtown Oswego. The veterinarian and technician drive together to housecall appointments throughout the day. You’ll be the only doctor at the appointment but our other doctors and technicians are just a phone call away. After the last appointment, the Travel Team heads back to Oswego to return supplies and round with the rest of our team. The candidate absolutely has to be a team-player willing and able to practice flexible veterinary medicine in a non-traditional setting.

Candidates must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

Schedule:

Our typical shifts are 8-10 hours, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9am-7pm with only one weekend shift per month required. Weekend shifts are typically half-days. You’ll also have the option to take after-hours end-of-life calls.

Flexibility is one of our core values and this position comes with tons of flexibility in choosing your hours and shifts!  Hours can be adjusted within reason depending on if you are a morning person or evening person!  You’ll no longer have to sacrifice family time, free time, or you time!!  We are all about making your work life work for you and with that mindset we can lead to vibrant, healthier and happier lives. Doctor hours are scheduled 30-60 days in advance at minimum, or you can provide your schedule to be in place for blocks of months at a time.

COVID-19 Precautions:

We are currently performing our housecall appointments outside of the pet’s home (yard, patio, garage). We are strictly pro-active with our team’s safety and have aggressive COVID protocols in place following recommendations and observing the CDCs guidelines. Properly worn masks are mandatory for our team as well as our clients. Clients are screened prior to appointments. Once the pandemic is under better control, we will be returning to in-home veterinary care.

Company Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid time off
  • Paid Holidays
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Retirement plan
  • Employee pet discount
  • Continuing education stipend
  • Paid dues and licensure
  • Personal and Professional Develop Training

To apply:  send cover letter and resume to leadership@thewelcomewaggin.com; list: “Job Applicant” and your name in the subject line of the email.
