About Blue Springs Animal Hospital & Pet Resort
Our History Blue Springs Animal Hospital has been serving pets and the people who love them in the Kansas City community since 1946. Our hospital is a privately owned practice with the independence and aspiration to pursue state of the art veterinary medicine which best serves the needs of our patients and clients. Veterinarians who join our team enjoy the benefits of association with a long established and highly regarded practice, but one which has always pursued progressive medicine through continuing education and incorporation of new ideas and treatment modalities. We seek new associates with a desire to be on the cutting edge of medicine and offer our clients the best that veterinary medicine has to offer today. Mentorship Program When a veterinarian joins our team at Blue Springs Animal Hospital & Pet Resort we make a commitment to help that veterinarian pursue career success and satisfaction. For new or recent graduates that process starts with an organized mentorship program. The first two years of practice are critical because that is when a veterinarian develops the habits, patterns, and thought processes which will affect how they practice for the rest of th...eir career. It is our goal to help our new veterinarians develop confidence in their diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical skills which will maintain their passion for practicing top quality medicine and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment in their career. Our Mission Our mission at Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is to provide the most caring service possible to our patients or guests, and their human friends, through a team of dedicated professionals. For us "It's all about caring" and we surround ourselves with a team of people who embrace the challenge and reward of living up to our mission. We care for our patients, our clients, and for each other as part of the Blue Springs Animal Hospital family. Our Culture We are a group of diverse people brought together by a mutual desire to have a positive impact on the lives of pets and people. We value and intentionally nurture a team work culture driven by passion for our patients and mutual respect and support for one another. We strive to be the kind of people who create a positive work environment. When asked what has given them job satisfaction, our long term staff tell us it is the culture of the hospital, the relationships they have built with other people on staff, and the pride they feel in being part of an organization which truly makes a difference. Our Team The heart of our practice is our people. Almost 70 hard working and dedicated doctors and staff make up the Blue Springs Animal Hospital family. Our veterinarians work as a cohesive team collaborating on case work ups and management and sharing experience, skills, ideas, and continuing education. Newer veterinarians gain confidence as the experienced veterinarians share their practical knowledge and skills, and the experienced veterinarians gain new ideas as recent graduates share their current knowledge and creativity. We have a large support staff of dedicated professionals, many of whom have invested years into veterinary medicine and our hospital. We employ experienced registered veterinary technicians and support our local technician program. Other staffing includes veterinary assistants for each veterinarian, receptionists, hospital kennel attendants, pet resort kennel attendants, and administrative/managerial staff. Our Patients, Clientele, and Caseload An important consideration for veterinarians seeking to develop their knowledge and skills is working within a practice which has a good caseload of patients and a clientele which will support quality veterinary diagnostics and care. With over 70 years serving our community, Blue Springs Animal Hospital is a busy hospital with a long time and loyal clientele. We provide routine preventative care as well as advanced medical and surgical services. Our reputation in the community earns us many referrals from both satisfied clients and other local veterinarians for 2nd opinions or more advanced diagnostics, therapeutics, and surgical procedures. We encourage our veterinarians to pursue and develop their areas of interest as we believe this pursuit provides a high quality of care to our patients and career satisfaction for our veterinarians. Particular areas of interest or expertise developed by our doctors include orthopedic surgery (TPLO, Tightrope, MPL, fracture pinning/plating/external fixators, etc), soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, cardiology/echocardiography, dermatology, chemotherapy, feline medicine, and canine reproduction. Our Facilities and Equipment We provide our veterinarians with the facilities and equipment needed to provide top quality veterinary medicine. Blue Springs Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is housed in a custom designed 12,000 square foot facility featuring modern decor and a well designed work flow. The hospital has 12 exam rooms, a centralized lab/pharmacy, a double surgery suite, large treatment and surgery prep areas, and dedicated rooms for radiology, ultrasound/echocardiograhy/video endoscopy, and isolation. The resort facility can house up to 100-120 dogs and 20 cats for boarding, daycare, and bathing and features an indoor activity center for playtime. BSAH is well equipped to provide the high quality diagnostic and treatment options our clients have come to expect including in house blood analysis, high def digital radiography, digital dental radiography, echocardiography with color flow doppler, ultrasound, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, rhinoscopy, otoscopy, tonometry, therapy laser, CO2 surgical lasers, advanced orthopedic and soft tissue instrumentation, and multimodal anesthetic monitoring.
