We are looking for a Veterinarian to join our fast paced, growing, 2 doctor practice! Our hospital specializes in dogs, cats and occasionally smaller animals. Your duties as a Veterinarian in our practice would include performing soft tissue surgeries (spay, neuter, dental, mass removal etc.), performing "well-checkups" and vaccinations, seeing sick animals and diagnosing and prescribing medications. If you love being around animals and are committed to offering them the best possible healthcare, we’d like to meet you! We are considering Veterinarians of all experience levels and compensation will be determined based on experience!

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals and check their health status
  • Diagnose illnesses and determine the best treatment
  • Dress wounds of injured animals
  • Perform soft tissue surgeries (spay, neuter, mass removal, dental, etc)
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent diseases
  • Prescribe medication
  • Advise pet owners on nutrition, preventive healthcare and general care
  • Speak with clients over the phone to go over visit (no owners currently inside the practice)
  • Call clients with lab results
  • Update client records

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff members are required to wear masks. PPE equipment is provided. Currently, we are not allowing owners inside the facility to limit exposure. Sanitizer and disinfectant is provided. Entire facility is completely disinfected multiple times per day.

Skills

  • Work experience as a Veterinarian (1yr preferred)
  • Proficient in soft tissue surgery (ability to trouble shoot in surgical setting)
  • Experience conducting various types of surgeries, vaccinations and health checks on animals
  • Knowledge of medical equipment (e.g. X-ray machines) and anesthesia procedures
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions using simple language
  • Availability to take evening or weekend shifts
  • Patience and a love for animals
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • DEA certification (preferred)

The Animal Center LI is located in Suffolk County, NY, right off of Route 110. The Animal Center LI is open seven days per week, and with both morning and evening hours we are able to provide the best available appointments to our clients.We offer a broad range of veterinary services including yearly wellness exams, puppy/kitten exams, vaccinations, de-worming, dental scaling and polishing, microchipping, and surgery.Our mission is to promote a state of optimum health on the physical, emotional and mental planes, for your puppy or kitten, and the adult pet he/she will become. Achieving a healthy state is not the same a fighting disease. It is the prevention of disease, whenever possible.
