Seeking full or part-time associate

Are you looking for position at the beach with weekends off in a fast-growing private practice? Well, we are looking for you!

About US

Mitchell Village Animal Hospital has been locally owned and operated since 1989. We are a 2- DVM full service private practice offering grooming and boarding services in addition to veterinary/surgical practice. As one of the longest standing veterinary practices in the area, our clientele is made up of year-round locals and second-home buyers in addition to seasonal vacationers.  We are dedicated to our community and sponsor multiple local events and a local high school scholarship annually. We value the quality of our care over the quantity of appointments and are committed to the pets/pet-owners we serve. We do not ask that our doctors follow canned protocols and encourage each doctor to develop their own method of good medicine practices. We share ideas and welcome new techniques and innovation.

Owned by 2 busy moms, we value a work-life balance. Our doctor hours are 9-1pm and 3-5pm Mon-Fri, closed on weekends (yes!) Our team is made up of 2 registered veterinary technicians, 4 assistants (who can draw blood, run diagnostic tests, take radiographs, perform therapeutic laser treatments), 3 client service coordinators, 2 kennel attendants, 2 groomers and 1 local relief veterinarian.

Services

We have a full Idexx diagnostic laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser and state of the art soft tissue and orthopedic surgical instrumentation (brand new VOI plating system). Additionally, we are one of few privately owned clinics in the state to have the Caiman Vessel Sealer cutting your surgical time in half and will make you LOVE big dog spays and splenectomies.

Referrals

We are 2.5 hours from Raleigh NC home of the world-renowned NC State Veterinary Teaching Hospital and host to multiple other tertiary referral facilities. Additionally, there are 2 emergency/after hours clinics including an orthopedic/trauma hospital within 15 minutes of our location so you will not work after hours or ER shifts.

Area/Location

Mitchell Village Animal Hospital is located in beautiful Morehead City NC on the Crystal Coast of Eastern NC between the Outer Banks and Wilmington. We are minutes from all beaches and home to the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and NC Seafood Festival. Fishing, boating and beaching is a large part of our laid back town on the water.

The ideal Candidate would:

  • Have a DVM or equivalent degree and be licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina
  • Practice compassionate medicine and have good interpersonal skills
  • Possess basic surgical skills with some level of clinical experience. While this is ideal, we can also offer a support network to help the right candidate grow.

Employment Package

We have put together a competitive compensation package that includes 2 week- paid vacation, 1-week sick leave, retirement plan, professional liability coverage, healthcare allotment up to $300/mo, AVMA membership and $1000 CE allowance.

Additional Salary Info: Our compensation is based on an annual salary plus 20% production paid quarterly. Annual salary to be determined based on experience.
