Veterinarian

Role and Responsibilities 

• Deliver highest level of evidence-based medical care to every pet ethically, safely, and with exceptional service. 
• Establish trust that leads to compliance of clients through completing thorough physical exams, diagnostic work ups, complete treatment plans including comfort for pet and client, communicating next steps in home care, and planning on next steps in follow up. 
• Advocate for the pet always including adoption of health savings program if you find it warranted. 
• Ensure thorough, complete, and effective clinical decisions. 
• Create collaboration with hospital team through daily caseload, routine/emergency situations, delegation of tasks while fostering a positive can-do atmosphere and attitude. 
• Practice medicine compliant with Illinois State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled Substance Laws, Practice Code of Ethics, Practice Standard Operating Procedures, and complete medical record documentation. 
• Develop long lasting relationships with clients and addressing their concerns, medical or relationship, in a timely manner. 
• Strive to partner, complete, and maintain individual development plans focusing on performance metrics and business objectives as well as personal development goals. 
• Perform basic surgeries with appropriate anesthesia, monitoring, and pain management. 
• Charge for services rendered and products/prescriptions dispensed. 
• Mentor veterinary students, externs, associates, and veterinary technician externs. 
• Always strive to keep open two-way communication between all to enhance proactive medicine quality, client engagement, and associate well-being.
