SNAP is a high volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic that has been serving Texas for over 25 years. We focus on spay/neuter, preventative care, and community education.  Our goal is to reduce overpopulation and burden on shelters in order to reduce shelter euthanasia rates.  We see an integral part of that to be strengthening the human/animal bond by providing quality care and compassion to our clients, allowing them to have a positive view of pet ownership that includes feeling proud of what they can offer their pets.  We aim to provide the highest possible level of care within the financial constraints of our clinic and our clients.

We are proud to serve the general public as well as various municipal shelters and private rescue groups.  We coordinate with other area programs to provide our clients with additional funding sources when possible, and we utilize grant funding to subsidize services for income-qualifying clients. SNAP is proud to be a part of several community-collaborative teams, as we believe that no group can successfully combat overpopulation alone.  We operate two clinics in the Houston area and one in San Antonio.

Our internal working focus is on a positive workplace, teamwork/collaboration, and veterinarian-driven medicine.  We consider our veterinarians to be leaders of our team, sharing their knowledge and expertise both with our support staff and our clients.  We have established protocols to ensure the safety of our patients which are always open to review by the veterinary team as a whole, and we strive to keep up to date with current literature and guidelines.

If overpopulation and shelter medicine is your interest then Texas is the place to be.  With a climate perfect favorable to year-round breeding and a growing population of citizens and pet owners the need for low-cost spay/neuter services is immense.  As with most of Texas, Houston and San Antonio have both maintained an affordable cost of living and each city has its own unique culture and feel.  Houston is the fourth largest city in the country and the most diverse, appealing to a large variety of interests from museums to neighborhood events, music, and dining options.  San Antonio has a rich history and boasts spectacular attractions, making it an exciting place to live and a great place to visit.

SNAP is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, and as such does qualify for most service-based loan forgiveness programs. We are actively seeking veterinarians, both with and without surgical experience, who possess or can obtain a Texas veterinary license.  Training is provided for those with little or no surgical experience.  Qualified candidates should be interested in learning and leading.  Full time and part time positions are available, and compensation is competitive.  Positions available include entry level, leadership, and in between; we are constantly hiring because there is always more to do for the community. A good fit for us is someone whose mission and vision matches our own; surgical proficiency and efficiency can almost always be obtained with practice!
