We are a 2 doctor practice in the beautiful Mid Hudson Valley NY. We are looking to add a veterinarian, whose caseload would include dogs, cats, small exotic mammals, birds, and reptiles. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate, team-oriented FT Veterinarian to become a long-term team member and compliment our outstanding team.

A short 90-minute ride from Manhattan will land you in the Newburgh Area, the heart of the Hudson Valley, where there is an abundance of natural scenic beauty, outdoor recreation, historic landmarks, restaurants, festivals and more. There are many varied experiences to discover: Strolls across the Walkway Over the Hudson, treks on the Appalachian Trail, Shawangunk mountain and Mohonk preserve, bike rides on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, sips along the Dutchess and Shawangunk Wine Trail, Beer tasting at Angry Orchards, tours of the FDR and Vanderbilt National Historic sites, antiquing and experiencing the classic county fair at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. Experience dining at the Culinary Institute of America restaurants and the multitude of restaurants and nightlife along the Hudson River, right here in Newburgh. 

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks :

  • Ensure the Safety of Pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
  • Obtain relevant information and history from clients, and maintain proper and complete medical records.
  • Educate clients about Pet health needs, any diagnosis or treatment, hospital services and other related information.
  • Effective communication of diagnosis and treatment plan to veterinary medical team and client.
  • Understand and follow state guidelines regarding duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.

 Capabilities and Experience:  

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Organizational ability - Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments.
  • Surgical skills - Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
  • Client service skills - Consistently ensures the team provides the client with attentive, courteous and informative service.
  • Compassionate commitment to Pet care - Ensures hospital teams confidently present pet treatment recommendations and associated fees as an advocate for the pet, gaining the client's agreement to proceed with the treatment most appropriate to the pet's current condition and long term health.

Job requirements: 

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • We will consider a new grad who has been internship trained.
  • License in good standing in state of NY or ability to become licensed in NY
  • License with the Drug Enforcement Agency required.
