Partner Veterinarian

Arlington, VA

Heart + Paw is poised for rapid growth and we’re looking for a Partner Veterinarian to help us reimagine petcare in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington, VA.  This beautiful center will be opening in April 2021 in the upscale Ballston Quarter shopping center. Our team has deep roots in the veterinary field and has joined together to build a practice that improves the quality of life for our pets, pet parents, and our team members. As an example, our veterinarians don’t have to worry about spending hours after closing time to finish notes. Why? Because we’ve implemented a best-in-class practice management system that utilizes artificial intelligence to help you finish your notes faster and deliver better care. Apply now to learn more about the many ways Heart + Paw is reimagining petcare and how you can become a valued member of our team.

Job Description

The Partner Veterinarian will lead our Ballston Quarter Center in Arlington, VA with direct oversight of team members and all services provided. This includes ensuring that all services meet the appropriate standards of care (as defined by state practice act and Heart + Paw). They will be responsible for providing high quality veterinary care and will be an integral component in building the success of our Center.

The Partner Veterinarian will:

  • Oversee the care of all pets in the center, encouraging collaboration and communication across center services and championing low stress handling philosophies and methodologies in pet care.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to all associate veterinarians.
  • Lead the veterinary hospital team through daily patient caseload and direct center team members in a positive and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with clients in a positive and efficient manner, utilizing all Heart + Paw available technologies (telemedicine, texting, emails, etc.)
  • Take an active lead in marketing the Center and maintain positive, lasting relationships with clients and the community.
  • Participate in planning, budgeting, and review of pet center financial performance.
  • Promote all center services (grooming, day care, retail)

In partnership with the Center Director, the Partner Veterinarian will also:

  • Address and resolve client concerns arising from care provided in center.
  • Hire and train pet center team members to deliver excellent pet care and an outstanding client experience.
  • Oversee proper use and maintenance of all center equipment and facility cleanliness and adherence to brand standards.
  • Create a positive and collaborative working environment for all center team members.
  • Help manage team member issues (scheduling, communication, development, discipline).
  • Lead development of medical, technical, and communication skills of all center team members.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for client-centric veterinarians with a deep appreciation for the human-animal bond between pet parents and their pets. Candidates should be licensed veterinarians (DVM/VMD or equivalent) in good standing with the applicable state veterinary board. They should have 4-5 years of clinical experience with 2-3 years of hospital level leadership (coaching or mentoring others, leading medical areas of focus) and excellent client communication skills.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent reputation with doctors in the community,
  • Proven leadership experience within clinical practice,
  • Client-centric mindset with proven ability to bring, build, and retain a strong client base,
  • A highly collaborative mindset and the ability to be adaptable,
  • The business acumen to drive financial results through quality veterinary medicine,
  • Strong interest in the use of technology to advance the practice of veterinary medicine and the pet/pet parent experience,
  • A fear-free mindset and HABRI certification or desire to become certified,
  • A passion for preventive care,
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, and
  • Enthusiasm about giving back to and building relationships with the local community.

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Profit sharing - Be rewarded like an owner without the financial risk.
