JOB OPENING:  ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

AAHA accredited (50 years) and VMG member animal hospital in Rockland County, NY is seeking a FT Associate Veterinarian. Our culture and values are -- and have always been -- to deliver exceptional care that promotes a lifetime of good health for our patients while also supporting the needs of the people who love them.  Family Friendly – Pet Approved.

County Animal Hospital (CAH) is a privately owned, one-doctor practice.  Our history and heritage date back to 1933; Robert Weiner, VMD, Diplomate ABVP (canine/feline), has been here since 1981. He will mentor and train the successful candidate, and through VMG you will have access to training programs intended to assist the recent graduate to shorten the learning curve in surgery, ultrasound, client communication and practice management. This is an ideal opportunity for new graduates, veterinarians with leadership experience, or those interested in taking the next step to join a great team and eventually lead one.

Work-Life balance is respected.  We are open 6 days a week (Mon-Sat), but there are no after-hour emergencies or on-call responsibilities; these are directed to a local after-hours emergency hospital.  Compensation and benefits package including flexible hours, PTO, paid sick days, CE/dues, health insurance and Simple IRA available.

CAH provides medical, surgical, dental, nutritional and behavioral care to our patients -- dogs, cats, and birds. (Avian experience a plus, but not required.) Additional in-house services include ultrasound exams, digital radiographs, and the complete Idexx laboratory suite.  Telemedicine is available to our clients.  All veterinary technicians are NY State licensed.  We are an externship site for the Mercy College LVT program. Dr. Weiner and our LVTs are all Certified Fear Free® Professionals.

All of this in a fun, relaxed environment where the focus is placed on quality medicine and happy patients and clients. If you are interested in becoming part of our warm, enthusiastic and professional team with an excellent community reputation and a positive work culture, we encourage you to apply! County Animal Hospital is just 10 minutes north of the Mario Cuomo Bridge and a 30-minute drive northwest of Manhattan, picturesque Rockland County is a perfect location for those who enjoy quietly recharging in nature (hiking and skiing) or for those who enjoy the kind of hustle and bustle (shopping, cultural activities and restaurants) that a metropolitan city has to offer. www.CountyAnimal.com

County Animal Hospital is a drug-free, smoke-free, Equal Opportunity Employer. Our Company Policy & Federal & State Laws Forbid Discrimination due to Age, Color, Race, Religion, Sex, Disability, Sexual Orientation or National Origin.

To apply, please email your resume and a cover letter to Wendy, Hospital Manager, at wwintman@countyanimal.com.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Skills, Requirements & Qualifications:

  • DVM/VMD degree (new graduates will also be considered)
  • Licensed in New York State and in good standing
  • Ability to build a trusting rapport with clients and patients
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to educate on and discuss topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, nutritional needs and preventative treatment with clients
  • Stay current with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine
  • Interest in Avian medicine a plus (but not required)
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine
  • Model a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients
  • Commitment to ongoing educational growth
  • Enthusiasm
