We are a full-service animal hospital offering preventative and wellness care, routine medical care, internal medicine, and surgical care to dogs, cats, exotics, pocket pets, and wildlife.
This position is one of (4) and the welcoming voice of our hospital. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), have a positive attitude, present themselves in a professional and friendly manner and have the ability to identify and work patiently and compassionately with clients of diverse backgrounds.
The Veterinary Receptionist's primary duty is interacting with customers by phone and in-person and communicating and coordinating their needs and the needs of their pets between our doctors, assistants, and technicians.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service
Greet customers, patrons, and visitors by phone and in-person
Answer (very busy) multi-line phone system, schedule appointments, answer inquiries, provide detailed information and/or costs for products and services, retrieve and disperse messages
Troubleshoot and resolve product or services issues and concerns
Check clients in and out, including processing payment transactions.
Be attentive to client and pet patient needs.
Manage record requests between other hospitals and specialty practices.
Provide client education regarding products and services
Maintain proper documentation and charting (both paper and electronically)
File documents and records; record personal customer information
Appropriately operate and utilize computers, copiers, fax, scanner, and other basic office equipment
Monitor, inventory, and order basic office supplies
Sort and distribute incoming mail
Document and update customer records and patient information both on paper and computer database
Develop and maintain a knowledge base of current customers and patients
Develop and maintain a knowledge base of current and evolving products and services available in order to better assist and educate customers
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (with or without assistance)

Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. (higher education preferred but not required)
At least 2 years of front desk, multi-line phone, and customer service job-related experience
VETERINARY MEDICINE BACKGROUND PREFERRED (but not required)
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess basic math and business writing skills
Possess accurate spelling and alphabetizing skills
Pay attention to detail
Be self-directed as well as work in a team
Ability to manage stress under pressure
Ability to build rapport with customers
Ability to prioritize and multitask assigned responsibilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, bend, lean, stand, stoop, walk, talk, and listen; may be required to sit for long periods of time; will use hands to type, manipulate, handle, and feel; will occasionally reach with hands and arms, will be required to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds (with or without assistance).
Successful completion of a 90-day introductory period required to receive a $200 hiring bonus.
