Are you as excited to care for your human clients as you are to care for your animal patients? Have you been told you’re great with people ? Do you want to work flexible hours and create the work/life balance that feels right for you?
Mockingbird Veterinary Housecalls in Nashville, TN is seeking an empathetic, warm veterinarian who understands the honor of walking with a family on their pet’s end-of-life journey. We provide acupuncture, pain management, and end-of-life services in the comfort of home; most immediately, we are in need of a veterinarian who can help see our end-of-life appointments.
Our clients are diverse, kind, down-to-earth, and devoted to their pets. For many of them, you’ll meet them on the hardest day of their life; an enormous number of them will also still go out of their way to tell you how much they appreciate you and the work you do (and, because this is Nashville, probably offer you tea or coffee). If you’re looking for a rewarding job where you’re reminded every day that your work matters--come join us!
We are a laid-back, progressive practice that values work/life balance and wants you to love your job! A “full day” of work typically involves 3-4 appointments; we are open to the hours and schedule that work for you. We hope to find a candidate with some immediate part-time availability; there will likely be room for growth to full-time hours in the near future. We’ll provide as much training as you need to feel comfortable seeing appointments on your own!
You are our ideal candidate if:
You’re good at “reading” people: you understand body language and have a good sense of what people want and need, even when they’re not able to tell you directly
You’re at ease with strangers, and possess the ability to relate to people from different backgrounds and belief systems
You’re a good communicator, with the ability to explain/translate medical speak into relatable language for clients
You’re patient, comfortable with tough emotions, and willing to hold quiet space for grieving families
You’re detail-oriented, but adaptable and willing to go with the flow and able to think on your feet
You’re able to maintain a sense of humor in difficult situations
You're certified in veterinary acupuncture (though this is not a requirement!)
You own an SUV or hatchback vehicle, or are willing to acquire one
You maintain current Tennessee Veterinary License and DEA License
Experienced vets and new grads are welcome to apply! If you’re interested, please send your CV and cover letter to email@example.com.
