We are seeking a full-time associate veterinarian for two privately owned small-animal hospitals in the Jacksonville area. We have been serving our community for over 40 years and are proud to be our clients “extended family”.
Our client oriented practice emphasizes compassionate care, high-quality medicine and surgery. The practice has state of the art equipment including digital radiology, full Idexx in-house laboratory equipment, therapeutic laser, and other instruments.
Our fully trained supportive staff includes technicians who are extremely competent in the field and possess strong technical skills such as; acquiring requested imaging, patient blood draws, running in house lab work and performing patient treatments ensuring that our doctors can focus on diagnosing and treating patients. Long term receptionist that handle; the financial side of all client interactions, documenting medical issues and ensure call backs to clients. We place a high importance on communication and collaboration between doctors and staff and strive for a positive, caring atmosphere where everyone can do their best work.
The position will require the applicant to work a total of 4 days a week and every other Saturday. We are flexible on any of the four days of the week (Monday to Friday). Our practices are both daytime only, open from 8am-6pm with a break between 12pm-3pm and open Saturday 8am-noon.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Examine, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide general medical care to animals
Prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, vaccinations, and provide training and oversight to staff on the use of medications and controlled substances.
Perform testing, spay, neuter, surgeries, and euthanasia on animals.
Partner with clients as an advocate for the pet to plan follow-up visits, provide home-care instructions, and education to ensure the lifelong health of their pets
Maintenance of records and veterinary history of animals, including medications, controlled substances, treatments, evaluations, and diagnosis.
Professionally represent the organization, and exhibit commitment to overall goals and deadlines set by management. Play an active role in our community events.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from accredited school
Licensure in good standing to practice veterinary medicine and surgery
DEA license in good standing
2+ years of experience providing care for domestic animals (preferred)
Maintain confidentiality appropriate for position and responsibilities.
Detail-oriented, proactive, ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Able to train, lead by example, and provide direction to other staff members.
Must demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
