Miami Valley Animal Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic associate DVM to join our family to help us care for the pets in our community. Applicant must be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, and dedicated to providing quality and compassionate patient and client care. Miami Valley Animal Hospital is a well-established, AAHA accredited small animal hospital with 4.5 full time veterinarians. We have earned the trust of the pet owners in our community and have a very strong and loyal client base. We have an excellent medical staff and highly-trained support staff. All of our technicians have received formal education from accredited colleges and are RVTs licensed to practice in the state of Ohio.
We are a 6700-square-foot hospital with 6 comfortable examination rooms, and newly-remodeled dental and surgical suites. We are equipped with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, in-house pharmacy, in-house IDEXX CBC and chemistry analyzers, and tonometry. We also have boarding and grooming services available for our pets. The hospital sits on 1.5 acres in a beautiful and quiet area and was built with many windows to bring the outdoors into the hospital.
Kettering is a suburb of Dayton, OH, one hour north of Cincinnati and one hour southwest of Columbus. This is a very stable area with excellent schools and a very reasonable cost of living. There are many parks, interesting and challenging walking trails, a large system of bike trails and a small local minor baseball team for summer enjoyment. Dayton has a very active arts and cultural reputation. Kettering’s local Outdoor Fraze Pavilion recently won an award for one of the top ten entertainment venues in the US. We have many places to shop and a large number of restaurants, both chain and privately owned. This area is also known for all of its fall festivals.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with a Managing Doctor and supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients.
Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
Skills and Basic Qualifications
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
Makes decisions confidently and effectively.
Manages time and tasks appropriately.
