Montana Equine Medical and Surgical Center is seeking an equine surgeon to join our team in beautiful Southwest Montana.
Our practice was first established in Bozeman’s Gallatin Valley in 1999, and provides primary, specialty, and referral services for patients across a three-state region. The hospital is fully-equipped with digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy and arthroscopy/laparoscopy. We have a well-established intern and externship program, and we mentor visiting students from around the world. Our laboratory includes the full complement of complete blood count, chemistry, blood gas and bacteriology and cytology. The hospital is very well-equipped to perform all types of equine surgery.
Montana and Bozeman are experiencing sustained economic growth, and Bozeman is a haven for fly-fishing, skiing, and other outdoor activities. The Gallatin Valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and possibilities abound for year-round outdoor recreation. We are close to Yellowstone National Park, and this is an ideal destination for fishing, skiing, hiking and more. Our practice emphasizes a realistic work-life balance; it is no good to live in such a beautiful place if you don’t have time to enjoy it!
The successful applicant will compliment an established team of progressive clinicians, including experienced surgeons and boarded experts in internal medicine. Applicants should be ACVS board-certified, or should be eligible for board-certification in the near future. Current residents in large-animal or equine surgery are welcome to apply.
Our practice has a major emphasis on performance medicine, along with general equine care. Applicants should be comfortable providing regular and routine services, and handling a caseload that includes English and Western performance horses. The surgeon is expected to receive routine emergencies, surgical emergencies, and to manage an elective surgical caseload.
Strong communication skills are important. In addition to client communication, our staff veterinarians seek to foster strong relationships with referring veterinarians. The ideal candidate should have a team-oriented attitude and the drive to provide outstanding service to the practice’s clients and their horses. Possibility of partnership exists for the right candidate.
